U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says he will meet with world leaders on Monday to seek their views on vaccines, and the U,S.
is seeking to make the process more open to international input.
The top U.K. diplomat said Thursday he is considering opening the vaccine debate to the world’s major health organizations, including the World Health Organization, and inviting other countries to participate.
He said he would also work with other nations to create a global vaccination strategy.
Ban Ki and U.A.E. Secretary General Anwar Gargash met for talks in Geneva earlier this month.
Ban was speaking about the need to fight the pandemic and said that the U.,S.
and other nations need to make decisions together about how to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and fight the spread in the rest of the world of the vaccine that has helped to defeat pandemics before them.
The U.n. has said it is ready to meet in Geneva to discuss vaccine technology, the role of the private sector and other issues, such as the need for global health financing.
