Boston, MA – Bobrick’s, Inc. announced Thursday that it will open its first store in the U.K. in 2021, following a $2 billion investment by British retail giant Aldi, and its first UK-based store will be located in a London suburb.
The announcement comes as Bobrick continues its foray into the U of A with its first two stores in London and Cambridge.
Bobrick said it will spend $4 billion in the next five years on its U.k. expansion and it expects to hire more than 1,100 people in the UK over the next 10 years.
Bobrick’s new London location will be built on the existing existing location in Newmarket, and will feature an expanded beverage service area and a new kitchen, as well as an indoor ice machine and bar.
It will also include an indoor pool and indoor pool deck.
Bridging the gap between Bobrick and Aldi is an expansion of Bobrick-branded foodservice operations, the company said in a statement.

The Bobrricks’ new London restaurant will feature a world-class dining experience, featuring world-renowned chefs and a fully stocked bar.

Bobrick is one of a growing number of U.s. retailers who have ventured into the foodservice space, with Walgreens, Target, CVS, Target and Dollar General all opening foodservice stores in the past few years.
